Community Outreach- Fall’s Warm Hearts Community Coat Drive was a huge success!
December 4, 2023 | Categories: Community, Events, Fundraisers, Volunteering
This year Evan Lindberg & Rachel Marken, members of the Historic Brewers Hill Association board, partnered with Lakefront Brewery to put on a coat drive benefitting Dr. George W. Carver Academy of Mathematics and Science. The outpouring of support from our community and Lakefront customer was incredible. Also, a special shout out to our biggest donor, Larry Roffers, who had the highest bid on the Little Free Library at the Block Party and contributed over $250 to our total donations collected!
Here are all the items we collected this year:
120 Coats
24 Light coats/Jackets/Vests/Sweatshirts
5 Snow Pants
6 Winter Boots
70 Hats
6 Pairs of Gloves
18 Scarves
12 Pairs of Mittens
8 Headwraps/Ear Warmers
~~and $1345 dollars~~
In total that is just shy of 270 donated cold weather items! Our original goal was 30-50 coats and $750 dollars, and we CRUSHED THAT! We are so thankful for the time, energy, organization, and resources in helping to make this Warm Hearts Community Coat Drive a huge success! This coat drive took place on two dates at Lakefront Brewery this fall, an all-day event on Saturday, October 21st and a Black Friday event the morning of November 24th. The school has already given out several coats from our first portion of the drive back in October and the need is only going to increase as we head into the coldest months. Lakefront was a spectacular partner in making this drive a reality and we look forward to doing it again next year!
