The Upcoming ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ Brings Together Business, Education, and Community for a Good Cause!

October 11, 2023 | Categories: Community, Events, Fundraisers, Volunteering

As the days grow shorter and the temperatures drop, the holiday season is fast approaching, and with it comes an opportunity to spread warmth and goodwill. In anticipation of the chill that winter brings, a heartwarming initiative, the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive,’ is set to unite business, education, and the community for a common cause – helping those in need.

The ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ is not just any charity event; it is a testament to the power of collaboration and the spirit of giving back. This unique project is the brainchild of a group of passionate individuals including board members of the Historic Brewers Hill Association, the tours director and owner of Lakefront Brewery, and administrators from Dr. George Washington Carver Academy of Mathematics and Science who believe that we all have the ability to make a positive impact on the world around us, especially when we work together.

The Power of Unity: Businesses, Education, and Community

One of the most remarkable aspects of the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ is the way it has successfully brought together three pillars of society – businesses, education, and the local community. This collaboration underscores the importance of collective effort in addressing the needs of students and their families.

Local business, Lakefront Brewery, a certified B corporation and a staple on the brewery tour circuit in Milwaukee, are playing a significant role by not only providing support in the way of beer donations, but also by acting as a collection point for donated coats and warm weather accessories. This partnership between businesses and the community emphasizes the symbiotic relationship that can exist, where businesses can thrive while simultaneously giving back to those in need.

On the educational front, administrative volunteers from the school will be on site at the coat drive to collect the donated items and spread the word about the great things happening at Carver Academy.

Community members are the heart and soul of this initiative. Their generous donations of gently used coats or contributions towards purchasing new ones are the driving force behind the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive.’ Their involvement not only provides warmth to those in need but also fosters a sense of community and togetherness.

Addressing a Real Need: Winter Comfort and Safety

The ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ is not just a symbol of unity; it is a lifeline for many who may not be adequately equipped or prepared for the cold months ahead. Winter can be an unforgiving season here in Wisconsin, especially for those without warm clothing. In recent years past teachers have reported that many students come to school in only “hoodies”. This initiative aims to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it the most. Through the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive,’ the local community is demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and supporting those facing adversity.

Get Involved: How You Can Make a Difference

If you’re inspired by the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ and want to be a part of this heartwarming endeavor, there are several ways to get involved:

  1. Donate a Coat: Look through your closets and gather gently used, like new coats that you no longer need. Drop them off at Lakefront Brewery Beer Hall on Saturday, October 21st. All sizes and warm weather accessories are accepted and appreciated!
  2. Contribute Financially: Even a small financial donation can go a long way in purchasing new coats for those in need. Follow the link HERE to donate. Our goal is $750.
  3. Spread the Word: Share information about the ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ with friends, family, and on social media. The more people who know about it, the more successful it will be.
  4. Volunteer: We are still looking for two more HBHA members to help out with donation collection. Please contact VicePresident@HistoricBrewersHill.com to volunteer

The ‘Warm Hearts Coat Drive’ is not just about providing physical warmth but also about kindling the warmth of compassion in the hearts of everyone involved. It’s a shining example of how businesses, education, and the community can come together to create a brighter, more inclusive future. This holiday season let’s embrace the spirit of giving and ensure that no one is left out in the cold. Together, we can make a difference and warm the hearts of our entire community. 💗
